Start with your licensing board.
ASPPB develops the EPPP for psychology licensure in the United States and Canada. Its member jurisdictions require Part 1–Knowledge; some also require Part 2–Skills. Your licensing board decides your eligibility and complete licensing requirements.
Passing the EPPP is one licensing step. Confirm the components and timing required by your own board.

Exam format and scoring
These figures apply to the current two-part EPPP.

The appointment includes separate acknowledgment, tutorial, and survey time. Approved accommodations may change timing.
Understand your scaled score.
Scores use a 200–800 scale. ASPPB recommends 500 for independent practice; the licensing board determines the applicable standard. A scaled score is not a percentage correct.
From board approval to test day
- Confirm your board’s requirements. Apply to the licensing authority where you intend to practice. Ask which EPPP components and application steps apply.
- Register through Clarus. After approval, follow your invitation to ASPPB’s Clarus portal, complete registration, and pay the examination and sitting fees.
- Arrange your appointment. Schedule with Pearson VUE within your authorization window. Complete the prescribed accommodations process before scheduling.
- Prepare for test day. Review identification, arrival, break, and rescheduling rules in the current handbook.
ASPPB moved examination registration to Clarus on September 29, 2026. Follow the current handbook and the instructions supplied after your board approves you.

Begin with practice questions and an error log. Alternate focused review, mixed practice, and spaced revisits. Use the official blueprint to cover every domain and adjust your plan as you identify weaker areas.

Announced future changes
The 2027–2028 transition
ASPPB plans to introduce an integrated EPPP in the fourth quarter of 2027. At that point, the current parts will close to first-time candidates. Candidates who failed a current part before the change may retake it through March 31, 2028. From April 1, 2028, the integrated exam is scheduled to be the only EPPP available.
The announced integrated exam combines knowledge and skills in six domains, with one overall pass/fail standard.
Current parts retain their published blueprints during 2026–2027. Check ASPPB and your board for your exam date; do not substitute the future outline for your current exam.

Do all candidates need Part 2–Skills?
No. Current Part 2 requirements depend on the jurisdiction. Confirm with your licensing board.
Does a practice score predict my EPPP result?
A practice percentage can reveal topics to revisit, but it is not an official scaled score or a guarantee of passing.
Will current materials cover the integrated EPPP?
Check the provider’s stated exam version and compare coverage with the official outline for the examination you will take.
